H.D.Y.K.

Arrowleaf Arrowleaf is an indie rock quintet from Missoula, Montana. Featuring the introspective songwriting of Sarah Marker, the band is filled out by the thoughtful work of Brady Schwertfeger, Jim Frazer Riach, Amanda Ceaser, and Jon Filkins.

Arrowleaf’s new single, H.D.Y.K., is out today.

Sarah Marker, the lead singer and songwriter of Arrowleaf, sings on the isolation of hyperconnectivity. Speaking on “how weird it is that we just give up literally every piece of ourselves on social media.”

Moody bass carries the song, highlighted by Marker’s voice, which cuts through the depth of the composition in shining rays. Lively drums juxtapose the creeping fog of the rest of the melodies.

After the banning of former-president Trump from most social media platforms, the surreality of H.D.Y.K. has never been more relevant.

“You just look at where that's [social media] gotten us in the last, you know, four or five years and like how things ended up at the beginning of this month. And it feels like quite the time to be putting out a song about the perils of social media.”

Arrowleaf has a Social Distance Session at the ZACC on January 30th, all attendance is remote.

H.D.Y.K. is available on streaming platforms, now.
