KBGA's 22nd Birthday Bash
KBGA and friends transformed the Badlander into a golden party palace to celebrate our 22nd Birthday on Friday, September 21st.
Technicolor projections from Austin Slominski A.K.A aceslowman saturated the stage in psychedelic lights as the bands performed. Local act New Old Future started the night with original songs and a truly sickening cover of “What’s Up?” by 4 Non Blondes.
Another Missoula legend, Wrinkles, came dressed to impress in wigs and cotton nighties while playing old and new songs from their repertoire. Gold Casio, Portland’s gold plated futuristic funk factory, made their Missoula debut to an audience that could not stop tearing up the Badlander’s dance floor. Fuuls ended the night with radical political commentary and ripping songs off their freshly released EP “its a secret.” They rocked so hard that the mosh pit could barely be contained, something rare and breathtaking at the Badlander, like an endangered bird.
The night's festivities also included a photo-booth from our friends at Wave and Circuit and live screen printing from Patricia Wells (who only 24 hours to carve out the sick birthday shirt design by our art director, Delaney Cummins). We shared a cake with those daring enough to eat communal cake. We danced until we had to go home.
Based on Birthday Bash, 22 looks like it’s shaping up to be KBGA’s best year yet. Our most heartfelt thanks goes out to all the bands, artists, volunteers, bartenders, and party people who made KBGA’s 22nd Birthday Bash a real success. We couldn’t have done it without you, lets do it again next year!
